For the price, this little microphone exceeded my expectations. I'm taking an online Spanish course and needed to be able to record some assignments. I tried two other older microphones I had lying around on my laptop, but neither really worked. I figured I would just give this one a chance since it was so cheap. Glad I tried it! It's extremely simple to use (just plug in) and record! Unlike in some other reviews, I have no problem getting mine to stand or be flexible. I received the all black one with the chrome band around the neck, and I purchased it from the seller importer520.

I have used it on my desktop and laptop. It simply plugs into the microphone jack. I've stood as far as 15 feet away around a wall in another room and the caller was easily able to hear me speak in normal tones. Portable and excellent sound quality. 1 penny???

I guess this is what you get for buying cheap products, I bought this mic for use with video messaging. To begin with it was hard for the other person to hear what i was saying, even when i was talking loudly, practically shouting. And then after a week it just stopped working completely. Obviously not worth it, please don't buy this product.
Perfect for Tween Laptop & AMAZING for the price August 25, 2010

This little microphone is IDEAL for my tween son's laptop. Even though the laptop already HAS a built in mic, I couldn't pass it up - I was curious! The sound quality is amazing - it doesn't take up a USB port - you simply plug it into the jack and you're all set. For the extremely low price, it was well worth the gamble. He mainly uses it for Skype and on-line gaming. But now, he's coming up with new ways to implement this little gadget into his life. After a test run, we've discovered that it's pretty good for recording music, too. He plays guitar and has been using the mic to record himself. Obviously, it's a barbaric way for recording musical instruments... but you know what? For a 12 year old kid... it's PERFECT. His inexpensive Acer laptop (running Windows Vista no less) easily recognized this microphone. THAT ALONE speaks volumes! So now he's all set - with out taking up hours of my time to install it, or find software, or work out any tech issues. This little mic is simple in its design and truly does pick up sounds clearer and cleaner than the built in mic on the laptop. For this price, I am planning on buying a few more just in case this one breaks!
